Homestays
Our international students are hosted by local families. Most of our homestay families have had long term connections with the school. The families will either have students currently attending or recently finished at Hutt Valley High School.
New Zealand homes are generally large and spacious with outdoor areas and pets. Homestay accommodation includes 3 meals per day and unlimited internet access. Overseas students will be made to feel welcome and will become part of their New Zealand family.
Homestays are organised by International Homestay Coordinator, Anna Kingsford. Our Homestay Coordinator and International Team support our homestay families to provide a happy positive home environment.
All homestay are checked and approved by Hutt Valley High School and all homestay families have been vetted by the New Zealand Police.
Lower Hutt – 15 Minutes to Wellington City
Hutt Valley High School is based in Lower Hutt in the Wellington region. Our school is just a 15-minute drive from Wellington City.
Lower Hutt, while a little smaller in population than Wellington City, is big on beautiful outdoor experiences, big on fresh produce from the land and sea, and huge on hospitality.
Wellington is a compact city that is one of the most livable locations in the world. Good public transport, short commutes and low levels of pollution help students to both easily travel to school and explore the Wellington region’s many attractions and activities.
Lower Hutt is surrounded by nature with a beautiful coastline, picturesque walking and cycling trails, tree-covered hills and acres of regional parks, forests and hills.
