School Board & Policies

School Board

The school board is responsible for the governance of Hutt Valley High School. The board:

  • ensures every student can reach their highest possible standard in student achievement
  • is the employer of all staff in the school
  • sets the school’s strategic direction in consultation with parents, whānau, staff, students and the wider school community
  • is responsible for overseeing the management of personnel, curriculum, property, finance and administration

Board Members

The board members are:

  • Denise Johnson – Principal
  • Miranda Cross – Presiding Member/Parent Representative
  • Blair Bushnell – Parent Representative
  • Charles Darr – Parent Representative
  • Susan Dunne – Parent Representative
  • Tyson Szeto – Student Representative
  • Jason Tierney – Staff Representative
  • James Wilkinson – Parent Representative

  • Lana Goddard – Board Secretary

Board Meetings

Board meetings are generally held on the fourth Wednesday of each month and they start at 5.30pm. They are usually held in the Boardroom at Hutt Valley High School.

The dates for the 2024 board meetings are the following: 21 February, 20 March, 8 May, 26 June, 21 August, 18 September, 23 October and 20 November.

Board meetings are held in public. All members of the Hutt Valley High School community are welcome to attend.  The provisions of Part 7 of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 apply to some sensitive issues discussed ‘in committee’.   If you wish to attend a meeting, please email Board Secretary, Lana Goddard at lana.goddard@hvhs.school.nz
