Seeking New School Board Member with Expertise in Te Ao Māori

An opportunity to serve on the School Board has arisen with Board Member, Tina Marama Wairau recently giving notice of her intended resignation.

To ensure the School Board continues to represent the HVHS school community, the Board is specifically looking to co-opt a Board Member who can bring mātauranga Māori and support our tikanga and kawa. The co-opted Board Member will help ensure te ao Māori informs the board’s decision-making and is best placed to support Māori student achievement.

If you’re interested or know of someone who is right for this role, please contact Presiding Member (Board Chair) Miranda Cross at or Principal, Denise Johnson at  Interested parents and caregivers are also welcome to attend the next School Board meeting scheduled on Wednesday 21 February starting at 5:30pm in the HVHS board room.

Update on the School Board’s December 2023 Vacancy

Published – 12 February 2024

A casual vacancy occurred on the HVHS School Board for an elected parent representative in November 2023.  As less than the required 10% of eligible voters on the school roll requested a by-election to fill the vacancy, the Board has selected Blair Bushnell to fill this vacancy.  Blair brings to the Board expertise in finance to further support this portfolio.
