Located in the Main Office building in the same area as IT Support and the Student Reception the First Aid room is available during school hours.
To contact the First Aid Officer, phone 04 566 4584 (Main Reception). In an emergency please call 111.
If a Student Feels Unwell During the School Day
If your student feels unwell or is injured at school, please remind them in the first instance to come to the First Aid Room. This ensures that students are assessed and well-supported while at school.
The First Aid Officer will work with the student to assess their condition and the best course of action, e.g. returning to class, resting in sick bay and/or calling a parent or caregiver to discuss or collect their student.
Free Period Products for Students
Students can help themselves to free period products. We also encourage students to take products home for the school holidays and during exam leave to cover their full menstrual cycle, and so families can skip adding them to the family grocery list!
Students are welcome to help themselves to period products, they are located in the tall white cupboard in the hallway between the Student Counter and the First Aid Room (Sick Bay). In the cupboard, students can select from pads and tampons in sizes regular and super, and also liners.
AED Locations at HVHS
The AED is located at the front of the school on Woburn Road, near the driveway by the Supported Learning Centre (pictured below).
In an emergency, you can access the AED by calling 111 to obtain the lockbox code. The school office also holds the code for quick access. After you’ve entered the lockbox code, grab the AED, and go. It is available to use 24/7 for both the school and the wider community.
AED units are designed to be operated by anyone. Once you’ve opened the AED unit, it tells you what to do. Listen and follow the instructions.
Always remember to call 111 in an emergency.
