Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)
Hutt Valley High School encourages all students to bring their own devices to school as part of our BYOD approach. Over 90% of our Year 9 students bring Chromebooks, allowing them to access important resources, course materials, and assessments online.
The best device for learning is a Chromebook or laptop, which lets students type and easily organise files on Google Drive. Some students also use a tablet with a keyboard attached, which is also suitable for learning.
Devices should meet the following specifications:
- Able to run Google apps (essential)
- Wireless capability
- Robust, highly portable, lightweight and able to fit into a school bag
Please note that tablets without a keyboard or mobile phones are unsuitable.
The library has a limited supply of Chromebooks for students without their own devices that can be borrowed during the school day. Students should visit the library before their first class to see if a Chromebook is available to borrow.
