About Urinetown: The Musical

Urinetown: The Musical, is… well it’s a musical that takes place in a dystopian setting where, due to an immense drought, its townsfolk have to pay fees in order to pee, controlled by a money-hungry corporation. But we wouldn’t want to overload you with too much exposition, huh?

And before you scoff at its oddities, don’t worry, Urinetown’s already laughing at itself with jokes like “Wee-wee never fail.”

But beyond its potty humour and absurd premise, Urinetown: The Musical, unveils itself with its political messages that also satirises the musical genre. From a gospel number to a climax that references Les MisƩrables, it dazzles at the same time as it depresses.
