Message from the Principal;

We welcome international students to our school.   HVHS is a large co-educational school; close to Wellington the Capital City.  Each student is special to us and has the opportunity to mix easily with New Zealand students. 

Our school, founded in 1926, has a fine academic record and a Nobel Prize Winner.  We also achieve excellent results in musical, cultural and sporting activities.  We look forward to sharing our safe, quality environment with you.

SCHOOL: The school has park-like grounds, with extensive playing fields, trees, lawns and pleasant gardens.

GOLF COURSES: Hutt Valley High School is close to two top class golf courses and our students have the opportunity to play golf.

HISTORIC PLACE: Hutt Valley High School is 5 minutes from historic Petone, one of the first European settlements in New Zealand.

CITY LIFE: Hutt Valley High School is 15 minutes from the vibrant downtown Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city.  There is a regular bus and train service to the heart of the city.

RIVERS, BEACHES, HILLS, FARMS & MOUNTAINS: Students have the opportunity to experience the scenic beauty of New Zealand.  All students will be taken on trips to enjoy this aspect of New Zealand life.  For senior students (Year 12 & 13) there is a trip to the Outdoor Pursuit Center.

LOCAL FACILITIES: A large shopping mall in walking distance, many gyms, an Olympic sized swimming centre next to the school and many sports clubs in the district
