School Board

The school board is responsible for the governance of Hutt Valley High School. The board:

  • ensures every student can reach their highest possible standard in student achievement
  • is the employer of all staff in the school
  • sets the school’s strategic direction in consultation with parents, whānau, staff, students and the wider school community
  • is responsible for overseeing the management of personnel, curriculum, property, finance and administration

Upcoming Board Election

Every three years, state school communities elect their parent and staff representatives to help govern their schools. The school board has confirmed the 2025 election day will be on 1 September 2025. Information the how to nominate a candidate or yourself for board will be communicated to families in our school newsletter and website.

  • Jason Tierney – Staff Representative
  • James Wilkinson – Parent Representative

Board Meetings

Board Meetings for 2024

The board will meet on the following dates in 2024: 21 February, 20 March, 8 May, 26 June, 20 August, 19 September, 23 October and 20 November. Meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m. and typically take place in the Boardroom at the school.

Board Meetings for 2025

The board has scheduled its 2025 meetings for 26 February, 2 April, 21 May, 25 June, 6 August, 10 September, 29 October and 26 November.

Board meetings are held in public. All members of the Hutt Valley High School community are welcome to attend.  The provisions of Part 7 of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 apply to some sensitive issues discussed ‘in committee’.   If you wish to attend a meeting, please email Board Secretary, Lana Goddard at lana.goddard@hvhs.school.nz
