Premier Senior and Junior Premier A Teams registration fee is – $150
All other teams – $60
Junior and Senior Badminton Tournament costs are charged extra per event.
Additional Cost per event or Tournament costs – Entry fees, transport and accommodation where applicable – include NZSS Winter Tournament week
Fundraising is advised and can be organised through by a parent group
Payments for winter sports are due by Sunday 29 April 2024 (day before Term 2 commences)
Description
Badminton is played at both a competitive and social Competitive level for the inter-school competition for all age groups.
JUNIORS – Year 9 – 10 – play Thursdays – 4 – 6pm starting May 9.
SENIORS – Year 11-13 – play Fridays – 4 – 6pm starting May 10.
SOCIAL TEAM SET UP:
Students may make up a Social Competitive team of at least 6 players, but at the time of entering their team, they must also nominate a competent adult coach / manager to attend their games.
All players must complete an individual online registration and then early 2024 teams will collect a Special form from the sports office to complete.
Training is optional for these teams.
Venue
Most grades play at HVHS or various other Hutt Valley Schools.
Premier Teams play at Wellington, Tawa and Naenae Badminton Halls.

Uniform
Juniors – Years 9 and 10: HVHS PE Shirt, black shorts, sports shoes.
Seniors – Years 11-13: HVHS PE Shirt, black shorts, sports shoes.
Premier Seniors & Premier Juniors – badminton top from Resource Centre, black shorts and sports shoes.
Equipment
Own racquet required to play in a team.
HVHS provides shuttlecocks and scoresheets.
Training Times

Premier Senior & Premier Junior Teams train at Naenae Badminton Hall on Mondays time (TBC).
Premier training dates: In April – 08/04, 15/04, 22/04, 29/04, in May – 06/05, 13/05, 20/05, 27/05, in June – 03/06, 10/16, 17/06, 24/06, in July – 01/07, 08/07, 15/07, 22/07, 29/07, and in August – 05/08, 12/08, 19/08, 26/08.
Senior teams train on Mondays in the HVHS Gym from 3.30pm – 5:00pm.
Junior teams train on Tuesdays in the HVHS Gym from 3.30pm – 5:00pm.
Trial Dates
Trials to be held at Badminton Hall in Naenae (see dates and times below). Saturday & Sunday, March 16 – 17, 10.00am – 2.00pm Saturday & Sunday, March 23 – 24, 10.00am – 2.00pm
