2026 Rugby (Boys) Registration

  • The closing date for registration is Friday 23 January 2026, with winter sports payments due on Friday, 22 May 2026.
Costs
  • $180 Boys 1st VX and for all other boys’ teams $90.
  • Additional costs per event or tournament are charged as extras e.g. entry fees, transport and accommodation (if applicable).
  • Boys 1st XV travel to the Captain’s Trophy Quad during Winter Tournament week.
  • Fundraising is advised and can be organised through a parent group. Please contact the Sports Office for more information.
  • Payments for winter sports are due by Friday, 22 May 2026.
Description
  • All grades play Saturday nights and occasionally a Friday night game is scheduled.
  • Draws and results can be found on College Sport Wellington
Key Dates
  • Pre-season training starts – 19 January 2026
  • 1st XV 2026 Camp (timings to be confirmed)
  • Hope Cup Week (timings to be confirmed)
  • 1st XV Jersey Presentation & Sponsors night at HVHS (timings to be confirmed)
  • Boys Rugby starts – Saturday, 2 May 2026
  • 1st XV competes in the Whanganui High Sports Exchange, in 2026 Whanganui High is hosting on 9 June 2026
  • Boys Grade Finals – 15 August 2026
  • Rugby 7s (Condor Qualifying) – 26 October 2026
  • 1st XV Captains Trophy Quad – Dannevirke, 3-4 September 2026
  • Rugby Prizegiving – HVHS (timings to be confirmed)
Grading
  • A an official weigh-in during week 8 of Term 1. Players are then graded by weight or age.
Venues
  • HVHS or schools in the Wellington region.
  • Venues can change at the last minute due to ground closures and may be moved to council grounds (if required).
    Uniform
    • Playing jerseys will be provided.
    • Rugby socks and shorts must be purchased from the Resource Centre by all teams except the Boys 1st XV team who need to purchase socks only.
    Equipment
    • Coaches/Managers will all be provided with a gear bag containing practice balls, kicking tees, cones, first aid kit, training singlets and sideline jackets.
    • Students must provide their own suitable footwear/ boots.
    • Mouthguards are mandatory. The Boys 1st XV have mouthguards provided.
    Trainings
    • Preseason training starts – 19 January 2026Rugby training for Boys 1st XV & 2nd XV, Tuesday & Thursdays, HVHS, 3.30pm-5:30pm
    • Training for other boys’ rugby teams to be confirmed by their coach/manager.
